Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan get legally divorced today...

DIVORCED! Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan legally end their marriage on May 11, 2017

And the separation is final. The Bandra family court in Mumbai has legally granted divorce to Malaika Arora and Arbaaz Khan today with the custody of their son Arhaan given to Malaika. The couple, who married in 1998, had filed for divorce on mutual consent last November(2016). Where many expected the couple might reconcile over time considering they even attended the Justin Bieber concert together with their son Arhaan last night. However, they are maintaining this cordial relationship only so that their divorce doesn’t affect their relationship with their son. Takes us back to how Arbaaz in his recent interview with Mid Day had clarified his equation with Malaika. “My association with Malaika spans over two decades. So, I have always been on good terms with her family. We celebrated special occasions earlier too. If things haven’t gone well between us, it doesn’t mean that the equation with the family changes. They still have a lot of love and affection for me and I have respect for them. Malaika wasn’t with us on New Year’s, but was there a few days before that. But, that’s not the point. We are very amicable. “We are responsible parents and don’t want our child to get affected. We want him to grow up in a healthy atmosphere rather than be worried if his parents will confront each other when they meet. Malaika and I are mature individuals and don’t want anyone around us to be affected.”, said the actor
Amidst the divorce proceedings, there were also quite a few rumours about Arbaaz’s extra marital affair or say Malaika demanding Rs 10 crore alimony from Arbaaz. But Arbaaz feels when something is not meant to be, it’s just not meant to be. He added, “I feel, if we had to get more time, we would have got back by now. The fact that we haven’t, means it is not meant to be. I wouldn’t want to speak for her. I kept my option open despite us parting ways, and I gave it a little time, whether it was a year or two years before I moved on in certain ways. Even as far as dating somebody is concerned. So I guess if that was to happen it would have happened in the first six months, or one year. It didn’t and it’s been almost three years now.”
