After global icon Priyanka Chopra, the celeb who will receive the prestigious award is Kapil Sharma. As per a report in DNA, stand-up comedian turned actor Kapil Sharma has been chosen for Dadasaheb Phalke Academy Award. For those who don’t know this is going to be his second academy award. Last time, the popular comedian reached the venue so late that the VIPs and other dignitaries had exited the venue. And due to that, Kapil had to collect his trophy from a stage coordinator backstage. That isn’t something cool. It is heard that Kapil has assured the organisers that this time such things won’t happen and he will be on time to collect the award.
The other celebrities from Bollywood who will be honoured with Phalke Academy Award includes Vivek Oberoi and his father Suresh Oberoi (in special category), Juhi Chawla, music directors Anand-Milind, Gulshan Grover, Marathi filmmaker Raj Dutt, ‘Dangal’ film director Nitesh Tiwari, as per academy senior trustee Sangram Shirke, reports the leading daily. The guests for the event include Pahlaj Nihalani, city Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar and State Cabinet Minister Subhash Desai. The stand-up comedian was recently in buzz for his mid-air fight controversy with Sunil Grover. That led to three members of his show, (Ali Asgar, Chandan Prabhakar and Sugandha Mishra) The Kapil Sharma Show to walk out. The ugly spat between Kapil and Sunil did affect the comedy show’s TRPs. It fell drastically. Not just that, even Kapil’s and the show’s reputation was at stake. There were even rumours that the channel wanted to take the show off air. But that won’t happen now as the rating of it is getting back on track.
