    World No Tobacco Day 2017

    Initiated by the World Health Organization (WHO), World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) is observed every year on May 31 to spread awareness about the affects of tobacco consumption. On this day, people are encouraged to abstain from tobacco for 24 hours. The theme for World No Tobacco Day 2017 is “Tobacco- a threat to development” and WHO aims to propose measures to promote development and health. Tobacco accounts for about 6 million deaths every year across the globe and is one of the leading causes for lung cancer. Smoking usually starts during the teenage years but soon becomes an addiction so strong that it is difficult to quit it. However, quitting smoking is not impossible.     1. Aamir Khan

    Aamir Khan used to smoke 40 cigarettes a day but on January 1, 2011, he decided to quit smoking. He kicked the habit because his son, daughter, mother and wife Kiran Rao started getting annoyed and were constantly urging him to quit smoking.

    2. Ranbir Kapoor

    Ranbir Kapoor stopped smoking after taking a vow to quit smoking if his movie Barfi became a hit. He resumed smoking after a year but now, he is trying to quit smoking for good.     3. Hrithik Roshan

    Hrithik failed five times before he was able to quit smoking. He wanted to kick the habit and tried many methods to do so. The actor read articles, researched about quitting smoking, tried using nicotine patches and other methods. However, what did the trick was a book called Easy Way To Stop Smoking by Alan Carr. He has not smoked a single cigarette since the day he finished reading the book.

    Saif Ali Khan quit smoking after a health scare. His smoking habit almost caused a heart attack. So, he decided to bid adieu to this bad habit to stay healthy.

    Arjun Rampal started smoking when he was in college and it became a habit. He stopped smoking for his children. He made an announcement on his Twitter handle when he did so.
