    Ganesh Chaturthi special

BollywoodLife takes you inside the glitzy Ganeshotsav celebrations of Bollywood....

Bollywood stars like the rest of us also celebrate the vibrant Ganeshotsav festival. While their festival turns out to be a starry event, we bring to you the inside details of how Salman KhanShah Rukh KhanHrithik Roshan‘s celebrations…
Salman Khan is one of the many B-town celebs who welcomes Ganesha to his home every year. The Tiger Zinda Hai actor has confessed that it was little sister Arpita Khan who insisted that the family celebrate the festival of the elephant God. The entire Khan family comes together to make the occasion one of the starriest in town with biggies from the film fraternity paying a visit to Salman’s Bandra apartment over the one-and-a-half days that the Lord stays with them. It’s a delight to see the family during this festival, celebrated in an eco-friendly manner – the actor and his kin do not favour crackers or a noisy visarjan, making the event enjoyable for the neighbourhood as well as for the Khan-daan.
Shah Rukh Khan, a secular actor like Salman, brings his Ganpati home to Mannat, where the family celebrates Ganeshotsav with as much grandeur as they do Eid. It’s a quite family affair and the proud father takes his children along to the seashore for the immersion.
Hrithik Roshan might find it difficult to step out of his Juhu residence on a normal day, but he and his family mingle with the crowds at Juhu during the Ganpati celebrations. The Krrish 3 star has no qualms being photographed as he does the visarjan, and the ardent spiritual actor is a believer of Vigneshwar. The Roshan family definitely makes for the perfect picture on the occasion. We are sure that Hrithik’s household has one song playing on loop: Deva shree Ganesha from Angeepath!
The Kapoor khandaan again religiously brings home Ganpati year after year. Ranbir Kapoor joins the celebrations whenever he is in town and it turns out to be one huge affair. Even the visarjan is done on a lavish scale with who’s who of Bollywood making it to the do. Definitely one of the those priceless moments when we get to see whole of Kapoor khaandaan together…
Neil Nitin Mukesh was a toddler when he first asked papa Nitin Mukesh to bring the baby Ganesha home. Today the Mukesh household has one of the most beautiful and large Ganesha idols in the building. While Neil is busy with his shoots, it’s his mother who designs the decorative items – even the deity’s silver toys – for the Elephant God, who lives with the family for the whole 11-day period. The bhajans in the musical family can transport you to another world, and the mouth-watering delicacies served at Neil’s house explain why this young actor prefers being home during the festivities!
Jeetendra aka Jumping Jack wasn’t a star when he was a part of the Ganpati celebrations at Girgaum a few decades ago, but after all these years the locals they still wait for his visit during the festival. Clearly Jeetu hasn’t forgotten his roots; even today, before bringing in the celebrations at his posh Juhu residence along with producer daughter Ekta Kapoor; the veteran star makes sure that he first visits his old home at Girgaum and participates in the puja there, and meets and greets his old friends. He is definitely one of the most loved and respected stars in the neighbourhood – apart from Ganesha, of course!
Other celebrities who welcome Ganpati into their homes include Govinda, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Vivek Oberoi, while stars like Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan and many more visit Ganesha pandals across the city during the festival. Ganpati bappa morya!
