Kangana Ranaut seems to be back in her element with her upcoming film, Simran. The trailer of the Hansal Mehta directed light-hearted comedy debuted two days ago and is being praised by all. It centers on a Gujarati girl, Simran, who is addicted to gambling and is a kleptomaniac. Kangana, in her attempt to play a Gujarati girl, does not make a caricature out of her at all. In fact her character seems as relatable as it gets. The first song from the film was released today, and we get a closer peek at Simran with this one.
Titled Lagdi Hai Thaai, this one is a wedding number. As Indians, we love weddings and dancing at weddings. Kangana already has the hit wedding song, London Thumakda, to her credit, and Lagdi Hai Thaai is another lovely addition. The song is full of energy and simplicity. It is not organised and choreographed like Joote Le Lo from Hum Aapke Hain Koun, or any other wedding song for that matter, but rather features the same synchronised chaos that you see at any Indian wedding’s dance party. Kangana truly captures the essence of a carefree lass, probably drawing some inspiration from her own self.
The song has been composed by Sachin-Jigar, who have already won our hears, earlier this year, with songs from Meri Pyaari Bindu. The music composer duo is currently ruling the music charts with songs from A Gentleman, and now with Simran songs will only further reinstate the position. Jonita Gandhi’s voice is lovely and has certain unique texture that suits Kangana. Guru Randhawa is energetic, and we can’t wait to hear him more.
Lagdi Hai Thaai is a lovely number that you will find yourself humming this week.
