    Dobaara Quick Movie Review

Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem's Dobaara seems too slow in the first half.

The Hindi remake of Oculus is finally out and our reviewers are watching it right now. Not often does a horror movie fan in India gets to see the home industry churn out something credible in the genre. If only we made as many horror flicks as we make romantic comedies. The latest one in the horror genre is Prawaal Raman’s Dobaara. The official remake of the psychological horror film, Oculus, Dobaara stars Huma Qureshi, Saqib Saleem, Lisa Ray and Adil Hussain. It could be one film that you must watch. Usually Bollywood remakes of Hollywood films are not really up to the mark but this one seems promising. Here’s how the psychological horror film looks like in the first half.
With the very first scene, Dobaara begins to distinguish itself form the source material. Though, thirty minutes into the film and there has been only one or two spooky scenes, which sort of is a buzz kill. But seems like the movie is focusing on the almost tangible tension more than the ghosts to creep the audience out. And with every scene the the movie is slowly upping it’s pace. Huma and Saqib are playing their part really well. It’s like they are real life siblings…oh wait, they are! The first song Malang isn’t out of sync with the film and that almost seems miraculous for a Bollywood horror flick. Switching the narrative between past and present can be a little tricky, but it has been executed very well in the first half of Dobaara. Hope it continues in the second half. “Certain stains take centuries to clean,” probably is the best dialogue of the first half and we hope to hear more of such. The last scene, before the interval, successfully manages to freak the hell out of everyone in the theatre. Huma promises it has only started, as the screen freezes to read interval.
